BṚHADĀRAṆYAKA UPANISHAD · 6.1.1

यो ह वै ज्येष्ठं च श्रेष्ठं च वेद ज्येष्ठश् च श्रेष्ठश् च स्वानां भवति ।
प्राणो वै ज्येष्ठश् च श्रेष्ठश् च ।
ज्येष्ठश् च श्रेष्ठश् च स्वानां भवति ।
अपि च येषां बुभूषति ।
य एवं वेद ॥

yo ha vai jyeṣṭhaṃ ca śreṣṭhaṃ ca veda jyeṣṭhaś ca śreṣṭhaś ca svānāṃ bhavati ।
prāṇo vai jyeṣṭhaś ca śreṣṭhaś ca ।
jyeṣṭhaś ca śreṣṭhaś ca svānāṃ bhavati ।
api ca yeṣāṃ bubhūṣati ।
ya evaṃ veda ॥

Harih, Om. He who knows the first and the best, becomes himself the first and the best among his people. Breath is indeed the first and the best. He who knows this, becomes the first and the best among his people, and among whomsoever he wishes to be so.
