CHĀNDOGYA UPANISHAD · 3.2.3

तद् व्यक्षरत् ।
तद् आदित्यम् अभितो ऽश्रयत् ।
तद् वा एतद् यद् एतद् आदित्यस्य शुक्लं रूपम् ॥

tad vyakṣarat ।
tad ādityam abhito ’śrayat ।
tad vā etad yad etad ādityasya śuklaṃ rūpam ॥

That flowed forth and went towards the sun. And that forms what we call the white (sukla) light of the sun.
