CHĀNDOGYA UPANISHAD · 4.4.1

सत्यकामो ह जाबालो जबालां मातरम् आमन्त्रयां चक्रे ।
ब्रह्मचर्यं भवति विवत्स्यामि किंगोत्रो न्व् अहम् अस्मीति ॥

satyakāmo ha jābālo jabālāṃ mātaram āmantrayāṃ cakre ।
brahmacaryaṃ bhavati vivatsyāmi kiṃgotro nv aham asmīti ॥

Satyakâma, the son of Gabâlâ, addressed his mother and said: 'I wish to become a Brahmakârin (religious student), mother. Of what family am I?'
