CHĀNDOGYA UPANISHAD · 5.2.2

स होवाच किं मे वासो भविष्यतीति ।
आप इति होचुः ।
तस्माद् वा एतद् अशिष्यन्तः पुरस्ताच् चोपरिष्टाच् चाद्भिः परिदधति ।
लम्भुको ह वासो भवति ।
अनग्नो ह भवति ॥

sa hovāca kiṃ me vāso bhaviṣyatīti ।
āpa iti hocuḥ ।
tasmād vā etad aśiṣyantaḥ purastāc copariṣṭāc cādbhiḥ paridadhati ।
lambhuko ha vāso bhavati ।
anagno ha bhavati ॥

He said: 'What shall be my dress?' They answered: 'Water.' Therefore wise people, when they are going to eat food, surround their food before and after with water.' He (prâna) thus gains a dress, and is no longer naked '.
